Every generation has its own challenges,
and each deserves a loving space
to unpack and explore their unique experience.
We are fast waking up to the knowledge that children and teens are increasingly anxious and stressed. They often struggle to communicate regulate their emotions, and this has a far-reaching impact on their wellbeing and their relationships.
First things first, please rest in the reminder that children and adolescents are still learning and growing - we honestly can’t expect anyone to know it all! Even as adults, we continue to grow and evolve in our emotional capacity. It is truly a lifelong learning process.
Coaching provides a golden opportunity to start exploring emotional terrain, to experience empathy and comradeship, and to gain valuable skills for emotional release and regulation.
Coaching for adolescents and children opens a safe space where emotions are welcomed, expressed and held free from judgment.
We take doubt, fear and shame and we lovingly ask them to take a seat beside us, while expressing all that’s been bottled inside.
It’s important to understand that coaching sessions are not a quick-fix to emotional dysregulation. In fact, what’s most needed is not to be ‘fixed’, but to be listened to.
Coaching sessions for adolescents and children take the form of open conversations, either individually (client-to-coach), or as a group, depending on the client’s needs.
Active sessions are also offered, where coaching is combined with light physical activity to aid in the release of pent-up emotions.
While this coaching approach is trauma-informed, it is not a form of deep trauma work. You are welcome to contact me for a consultation to see whether your needs or your child’s needs are well-suited to coaching, or better tended to by a therapist or counsellor.
If you’re ready to take a breath and set some feelings free, get in touch and we’ll take it from there.
